Acadiana Chapter Town Hall Meeting, November 16: Grady Hazel hosts an interactive discussion of hot topics

LCPA's Town Hall Meeting is a unique opportunity for Acadiana Chapter members to stay up to date on the latest topics, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), recent federal and state legislation, and the global financial crisis and its impact on the accounting profession.

The interactive format provides a forum for you not only to learn about the profession's current issues, but also to discuss issues that are important to YOU. We want to hear what's on your mind. Your input guides the program's direction.

ULL Speed Interview Event a Success (photos and more)

ULL Speed Interview Event a Success

Juniors and Seniors in Accounting at UL-Lafayette had an opportunity to interview with potential employers at the LCPA’s Acadiana Chapter’s first-ever Speed Interview event, September 25 on the University’s campus.

Chapter members interested in recruiting interns and future CPAs for their workplace conducted brief screening interviews with accounting majors. At the end of 5 minutes, a bell sounded to indicate the end of each “speed interview” session, and candidates then moved to the next employer’s table. Students registered and submitted resumes in advance to participating employers, and employers likewise provided biographies of their companies.

Chapter Volunteers Needed to Help Local Families Improve Money Skills
Help your neighbors learn to save, repair credit, establish a bank account and more...

As part of the LCPA’s Financial Literacy efforts to help families become financially stable, we have partnered with United Way of Acadiana to recruit volunteers to present Money Smart classes to area residents. All course materials are provided and volunteers are given step-by-step presentation instructions.

The Money Smart curriculum provides financial education and skills to enable individuals and families to manage their financial resources more wisely, create positive relationships with financial institutions, and make informed decisions regarding personal finances.

50 Volunteer instructors are currently needed. All unaffiliated volunteers will be trained on July 30th from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
